Design 58 Werdna

I found a great list in our files earlier today where someone had taken the time to weed through all of our design numbers and separate the "not built" designs from the actual projects, in longhand no less. I mean I have been doing so slowly through the research for this blog but here was a nice concise list of boats. In taking a cursory look I noticed design #58 immediately as another one of our designs that has flown "under the radar".

Werdna was built in 1935 by Albert Lemos of Riverside, Rhode Island. Its a good study in an early S&S rig type that was abandoned pretty quickly: bow sprit and boomkin, for later, higher aspect ratio rigs. Note the lashed rigging terminations at the top of the masts versus the metal tangs that were in place very early in the designs to come (as well as elliptical spar sections).
